Who qualifies
Any child who lives in Florida and turns 4 on or before September 1 of the school year. There's no income requirement — every Florida 4-year-old is eligible.
Children who turn 4 between February 2 and September 1 may wait a year and attend VPK at 5 instead.
How VPK works at Bufi
The state funds 540 instructional hours during the school year. At Bufi, those hours are part of our regular Pre-Kindergarten day: hands-on learning, early literacy and numeracy, and social skills — in English and Spanish.
The state pays for the VPK instructional hours. Care outside those hours, such as early drop-off, the afternoon and school holidays, is optional extended-day care that families who choose it pay for. Under Florida's VPK rules, extended-day care cannot be required as a condition of enrolling in VPK. Ask us for the current VPK schedule and the extended-day rates.
How to enroll in VPK at Bufi
1. Apply for a VPK Certificate of Eligibility at the Florida Family Portal (familyservices.floridaearlylearning.com). You'll need your child's proof of age and proof of Florida residency.
2. Print or download the certificate — the Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe issues it, usually within a few days.
3. Book a tour with us, bring the certificate, and we complete the enrollment paperwork together (immunization form 680, physical form 3040, ID).

How do I enroll my child in VPK?
Apply for a Certificate of Eligibility at the Florida Family Portal with proof of your child's age and Florida residence. Once the Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe approves it, bring the certificate to us and we complete enrollment together.
